This collection of sterling silver, mixed natural turquoise and mediterranean coral is inspired by the painted horses of the Native American Indian tradition. I love their vitality, strength, the celebration and the spirit.
This pendant features a beautiful green nugget of Blue Bird Turquoise, set on two layers of sterling silver which I have hand-stamped and cut into the horse profile, and added a variety of dangles [all handmade], including the two hand-cut and textured feathers.
Turquoise beads include Sleeping Beauty [pale blue], Fox mine [green] and Turquoise Mountain [true blue], and some smaller Kingman chips. Also included are beautiful natural Mediterranean Coral beads and branches.
On the closeup photo of the dangles you will see one beautiful chunky blue-green turquoise bead - this one I purchased in Santa Fe at the Indian Market from a beautiful old Navajo woman who had hand-cut the bead herself.
The treasure necklace is comprised of beads from the same mines as listed above, as well as two vintage Navajo-made conchos and sterling silver chain.
The horse symbolises the spirit journey, as well as strength, vitality and power. The horse would be painted going into battle, as a form of protection for warrior and beast, connecting them as one through the symbols and colours. Also to mark victories in battle upon coming home - a celebration of the horse's courage and capacity to serve.
May the spirit of the horse, its courage and its vitality, be with you.
